Yesterday was my girlfriend Jodi's 29th birthday, we've been dating for about a month now, and her family never really does anything special to celebrate birthdays (unless it's for her kids). So being the nice guy I am, I thought I'd take her out and show her a good time.
We went to the Wadsworth Atheneum (art gallery in Hartford) in the early afternoon (I was kind of dissapointed in it....very little sculpture), and then went to the casino around 4:00. I'm probably the last person in Connecticut that had never been to either Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun, and holy crap was I impressed! I was hungry as hell so the first thing we did was eat at Michael Jordan's 23 Sportcafe. I had quite possibly the best fillet mingon I've ever had (the french onion fillet....topped with mozzerella cheese, swimming in french onion soup) with a couple glasses of wine.
I promised myself I would only burn up $60 in gambling, so we played roulette and some dollar slots (lost it all), but she ended up on the plus ($25) from the slots.
Walked around the mall for a while, then ended up sitting at the bar upstairs, there's a dome overhead covered in lights, resembles a starlit night (the Star Bar I think?). Had 3 martinis each ($66 total!!) and a Sam Adams.
The best part about it was that Jodi had a great time, said it was probably her best birthday ever, so it was worth it right there. She's f&%*$^g hot as hell (5'5", 110#, wavy blonde hair, blue eyes). I've never seen a woman get so many stares in my life. I had been out of the dating scene for a while, so it was great to finally find a very cool, down-to-earth, intelligent and gorgeous woman. And a strange thing I noticed....the only place that I usually get checked out by women is (oddly enough) at the grocery store. But last night, there were so many hot girls checking me out it wasn't even funny. If I was by myself, I don't think any of them would have even glanced at me. But there I was walking around with this stunning, smokin' hot blonde bombshell, and women were looking me up & down all night (Jodi knew it too....she kept kissing me, to send the signal "he's mine!"). Women are strange creatures. Their competitive nature is simply amazing.
It was a great time, and the fact that she enjoyed it was the best part of it all. It cost me almost $400 for the whole day, but it was worth it.
End of semi-sappy gloating  Sorry, no pics yet.....I know, I know, TTIWWOP, but I don't have any yet.
Tell me some of your stories about your casino experiences, no matter where (Vegas, Atlantic City, Foxwoods, Mohegan, etc)!
