Man, that ring is hideous. You can do much better for 5grand. Remember, a total of 1.5 carets is not the same as one 1.5 caret diamond. Not even close. The price of a diamond goes up logarithmically with size.
My wife liked rings with a little older flare and class. I ended up buying Platinum engraved ring. The engravings look very elaborate and classy. The beauty of platinum is better than gold IMO, but if it's too pricey white gold looks good too.
One word of advice, make sure whatever you pick will look good with a wedding band. A crazy ass ring won't go well with one.
A previous poster mentioned Emeralds. My wife has said she would have loved that. It's different, and some thing more beautiful. The best part = cheaper
