    Orange/Red Puddle?

Check the rear seal/output shaft of the transmission at the tail stock area. It's probably the seal that the driveshaft yoke runs on. If it is that, then plan on living with it until you need to rebuild the trans or it gets really bad: it's easier thay way.

    can't shim posi

Thanks Denn454 for the suggestions. Turns out I have bigger problems than that. I measured the splines of each axle, and the left side spine is about 0.080 shorter than the right side which means that the axle can't travel far enough into the side gear to allow the c-clip out easily Calling...

    can't shim posi

so I bought a used stock posi carrier a number of years ago and had it installed. it's always howled a little bit especially turning a corned to the right. Last week I figured out that I needed to rebuild it so I did. In trying to remove the carrier, I had to drive the C-clip on the left side...

Rich for emissions but blms ok???

If anyone's interested, based on Grim Reaper's question of basic emissions tune ups, I checked things out a little more thoroughly with the ole scanmaster on the weekend. IAC was @ 00 !!! Resetting it sent the blm's to around 140 - 150 at idle with the iac at around 20. I guess I'll be...

Rich for emissions but blms ok???

If you mean by emissions tuning putting the cat back on, yes, I did:D . Other than that, this is only the 2nd e-test, and I didn't do anything really special except clean the k&n and change the oil. What else should I know about? I though the fuel was pretty well under control because the blm...

Rich for emissions but blms ok???

Veeeerrrry interesting. My other 2 measured parameters (NOx and CO) were very low relative to the HC numbers. Would you suggest that I have a look at my coil pack and plugs then? Would wires have that much effect ? I know the plugs have very few miles on them (about 6000 km in 2 years), but...

Rich for emissions but blms ok???

Sorry guys, had this posted in emissions tech, but maybe it really doesn't belong there.... Hi, I finally passed my Canadian emissions test, but here's what's happened. Red's 93 chip about 1995 vintage. Bluetop injectors run 1 Fuel Pressure @ 41# Hydrocarbons limit of 106. Actual value...

    Thrust angle adjustment

So I just took my car in for a proper alignment after doing 12" brakes, and the guy told me that the car has a large thrust angle. Left tire is toed out, right tire is toed in. Is there anything that I can do to straighten out the axle while I'm replacing my rear bushings and boxing the control...

Do new brake parts (pads, shoes) need to be "broken in"?

I followed the procedure on the Baer site, and would HIGHLY recommend that for anyone who has a car with brakes (not just our TR's). The procedure that Baer takes you through stress-relieves the rotors so that when you heat them up doing a hard stop, you won't warp the rotors. Some friday...

    Moog offset cross shafts

When I did my car I took it in to the alignment shop, and like a weiner, only mentioned that the car had the offset cross shafts. They were facing wheel side out. The guy worked on the car for quite a while, didn't turn the shafts, and I have a huge stack of shims on the right, and an ok...

    Moog offset cross shafts

I suppose that's partly my fault (for assuming they'd fiugre it out). I didn't mention that the shafts were offset cross shafts. :o The numbers I was trying for were 0.25 - 0.5 deg negative camber 4 deg caster 1/16 total toe Nothing too wild: the car is mostly street driven, and I...

    Moog offset cross shafts

Ok, so I just finished installing all the parts I bought for the 12" rotor, using GW arms. The Moog cross shaft that was installed on the arms said "wheel side". I took the car into the alignment shop where they spent the better part of a day working on it trying to get it set up. They told...

Do I cut down the sway bar link???

Need a bit of help here. I'm in the middle of doing a 12" brake job including the B body spindles and Moog 5660 springs. While I was reassembing the first side, I figured out that the steel spacer in the sway bar link was way too long. I've cruised around the board, and haven't seen anyone...

ECM reports 3rd gear on when in park

"Buick Shift" it is then :D . I did have a posi put into the car a while back, and I get a bit of gear whine while cornering, so maybe that's part of the problem: a bit of looseness. Nathan

ECM reports 3rd gear on when in park

OK, so it's just a switch that reports out to the ECM; I suppose it's just for troubleshooting? As far as the idle speed on my car, it's not excessively high. I've gotten in the habit of not having my foot hard on the brake to soften the engagement. It's just the <clank> that makes me...
