Yeah unfortunately with everything I've seen inside this "almost new" engine I'm going to have to completely go through everything to verify fit and clearances.
The engine I purchased in November needs fixing and I haven't even installed it yet. I've been researching what bearing clearances I should shoot for and I've seen everything from .001 to .003. this engine has a 4340 stroker crankshaft and billet center main caps. 4340 rods most likely eagle or...
I have no fear of boost. I just don't see the point in making more power than I need. With my cam and ported heads and intake as well as compression it's not a stretch to think that it will make 240-250 HP without boost. Then add 15-17 psi and probably close to 500 HP. Boost is just a measure...
My transmission a th400 variable pitch. It has a dual stall converter. Low stall is about 1500-1700 and high stall is 2500-2700. I realize a higher stall is desirable for launching but I'm not so worried about that.
I don't have any desire to make as much power as this engine is capable of handling. It's a street car and won't even have a roll bar. 17 PSI will probably be plenty. I feel like a smaller turbocharger than what I have now with ball bearings would be more responsive.
I want to get turbocharger better suited for my goals and combination. Unfortunately I know just enough to get myself in trouble about Turbo chargers. I'm interested in quick spooling and still want to be able to not run out of breath before the end of the 1/4 mile.
Tell me what info I need to...
It looks like I'm going to be trimming the bottom of my freshly rechromed front bumper for intercooler piping clearance. At least it for a quality made in USA intercooler instead of one made by Hung Chang Wee in China
