    Overheated!

I overheated an engine driving at highway speed in rural Canada one time... I didn't go in to the red, but close to it. I pulled over and discovered I had an exhaust restriction, the muffler broke loose internally and was blocking the exhaust flow. There happened to be a board on the side of the...

Nee snout rebuild kit for my 1997 Park Avenue Ultra

I saw a post that mentioned a place in the Atlanta area that exchanged your snout for one that had a new bearing for ~ $200. From the the few posts I have seen on rebuilding the snout, It sounds like a job that is best suited for a shop that is set up to do it. It might require a press to do it...

    99 Regal GS - O2 Sensor & Tune-up

I would not be concerned about replacing the O2 sensor unless you have a code fail indicating a problem with it. Remember you have a back up sensor to make sure it is functioning properly. We have almost 130,000 miles on our 99 GS with the original sensor. I agree with using the iridium spark...

    Changing out Spark Plug #6

I never had much luck with boot pliers. I just put on a pair of gloves and keep turning the boot back and forth. Sometimes it just takes persistence. But I have removed the o2 sensor for better access. You can buy a special socket for the sensor at the parts store. It has split in the side for...

    '99 Riv Supercharger Coupling

I finally got around to replacing the coupler, Now the supercharger is nice and quiet at idle. The 518 gasket maker is real easy to work with. I compared the old GM sc oil with 2380 oil, the 2380 oil is definitely thinner. I would not use the 2380 oil as is for an extended amount of time. I did...

    Thermostat help

Excellent post Murph! They really should put a yellow zone on these water temperature gauges. Most people think they are OK if their engine overheats and they stay out of the red zone, but that is usually not the case. Personally I never operate an engine over 220F. And I avoid going over 210.

    Thermostat help

Sounds like you need to have an experienced mechanic inspect your cooling system. What could be a relatively inexpensive problem like spending $100 to $200 to have someone replace a leaky water pump could turn in to a $1000 to $2000 repair from overheating the engine. The cooling system is...

I have the green coupler from ZZ Performance. I have ordered and am waiting on delivery for the 2380 oil, amsoil syn gear lube, and 518 gasket eliminator.

    '99 Riv Supercharger Coupling

By the way, I have been researching this task. It seems that 518 gasket eliminator is a preferred product to use for reassembly.

    '99 Riv Supercharger Coupling

I found a link to some instructions with photos on another forum. Let me know if this is helpful as I need to change the one in my wife's 99 Regal. www3.sympatico.ca/aepa/blowerinstall. It is not letting me post the full link. Put the ht... in front and html in back, I think you can find it.

    super charger oil alternative

During my research someone posted an interesting observation, They commented about bits of the coupler contaminating the sc oil. If you have ever changed the sc oil after 50,000 miles, you will have noticed the old oil is discolored and it stinks big time. I believe this is evidence of...

    super charger oil alternative

SuperMix Sorry for exhuming an old thread. I been researching a suitable substitute for the GM supercharger oil. I noticed some folks have been using the BP Turbine Oil 2380 with good results. However I understand the 2380 is thinner than the GM oil. I was considering mixing a little of the...
