I'm looking for a nice original lower mileage 87 Buick Grand National. Preferably a solid roof car near the San Antonio Texas area. My budget is $15-18K. If you know of any for sale or have one for sale yourself, please let me know. Pics and information can be sent to krkrzyrflbch@hotmail.com
How much horsepower can you safely get out of a stock 86-87 Turbo Regal Engine without doing any internal work to it? Would also like some suggestions on what to do to accomplish this number.
Got the tank out and removed the pump. I tested the voltage at the pump and it doesn't read anything on the voltmeter, but I did plug the old pump back in and it primed every time I turned the ignition on, so it must be the pump that failed. Just waiting on a replacement 340 in the mail before...
I just checked voltage the same way I checked mine (ignition on car uncranked) at the hotwire on another Turbo Buick with the same setup (hotwire, walbro 340) shows 12.83 volts at the battery and 8.64 volts at the hotwire connector.
I hooked up a charger to my car and have 13.00 battery...
Got it from G-body parts.
Guess that voltage may have killed the pump. That's just with the switch turned on, it may read different if the alternator is turning and feeding current through the hotwire. Otherwise I'm not sure why the voltage is so low.
Pump was a new Walbro 340 and installed in Mar. 07. Anyone else heard of something like this happening this soon with one of these? After all, the stock pump is >20 years old and although it doesn't have the same capacity, it still worked when removed.
Is there anything else I need to do...
I've got power at the fuel pump relay center post. If I bypass the relay/hotwire all together and plug the factory connectors into each other, still nothing, so it's probably not the relay. I have 11.9 volts at the battery and 8.03 volts at the connector for the fuel pump. When I plug in the...
If it is a cam or crank sensor, would that cause the fuel pump not to work, and everything else to be fine? I really don't want to unnecessarily drop the tank again.
I've got power at the center prong. The 2 on either side have nothing. The fuel gauge has been working fine. Where are the grounds for the fuel pump and sending unit?
Found a troubleshooting guide here Vortex Turbo Buick Performance. I thought for sure this was going to be a spark issue. I pulled a couple spark plugs and they have fire. I used a fuel rail pressure gauge, and it shows 0 psi. Car fired off of carb/choke cleaner. Don't see any real reason...
Just went out for a nice drive to the hardware store about 3pm and just made it back home via tow truck. Went in to the store came back out and it cranked fine. Then I went to the grocery store, came back out and didn't want to crank. So I raised the hood and wiggled the plug wires and pushed...
I'm in the market for a 1986 or 87 Turbo Regal with T-tops. Not really after a Grand National. I'll pay good money for the right car, but I can't seem to find any really nice cars that anyone is willing to sell.
Most of the ones I've looked at have needed more work than I would be...
