to clone or not to clone

I'm not in the "mad" camp. Hey, if someone wants to destroy a piece of automotive history (in the case of the GNX) that's on him--at least he kept the original parts and, as others have mentioned, it doesn't appear that he's hacked up any metal that would prohibit restoration back to a stock...

Nice car--someone got a real looker.

to clone or not to clone

Well said and I couldn't agree more! There's only one REAL term for clones, recreations and tributes -- FAKE. I worry about what unscrupulous individuals will do, not now but in the future when these cars are resold. Will they represent them as the FAKES they are? I'm very disappointed that...

    Cant believe this...

Had the same initial reaction when I saw this listing on eBay. After reading the opinions of others on this thread I can respect what everyone is saying. Guess at the end of the day it's all about personal taste. Get ready for Barrett-Jackson next week--it's great to see the variety and...

Museum quality GN with 5100 original miles

Just a note to flag that there's a pretty detailed discussion on the whole hood ornament issue earlier in this thread here.

I'm not a dealer with the sunk cost, but I agree 100%. The repaint and muffler system hurts the value on this otherwise very stock, low mile car.

Museum quality GN with 5100 original miles

Just to start this post off positively (it'll end this way too)--this car is SWEET--the nicest '84 GN I've seen since they were new. Now, about BX1. This RPO became a pretty hotly debated topic earlier tonight at my local BCA meeting where a number of other GN owners and I chewed the fat on...

Museum quality GN with 5100 original miles

So, I've seen one other '84 GN with a hood ornament--but all others have not had them. For you Hot Air experts what's the story? The '84 marketing stuff I have from Buick indicates that hood ornaments were not available on GNs. A guy in our BCA chapter had an '84 years ago and people told him...

Would you be willing to sell your GN/TR to fund a b00b job for your wife?

Yep...looks like we know what the decision was. Interesting thing to me here was all of the thread comments about what a lot of the guys want and how they think she looks. In the end it's about what the person themself thinks they look like. My wife is 43 and is considering a "lift" with...

    Personalized Plates

That's some serious rubber there FreeBoost--like it and would like to see them hookin up on the line too! Changed my mind one last time and went with "WHQQSH" for my plate.

    Personalized Plates

Like that one. I decided to go with "EZPKNZ" (in TX you're limited to six characters), like it because I'm saying that the other dude is easy pickens for me, and if some Gen Y or Millenial pulls up next to me in his rice burner he might think that I'm easy pickens for him--big ole heavy GM car...

    Personalized Plates

Just wondering how creative folks our here on this forum are with their Turbo Buick personalized plates. Was ticked today when Texas told me I couldn't get "6BANGR" -- apparently it's "too close to a numbering convention that may be needed." So I settled for "87 MUSL"--sort of my statement...
