any turbo can make 12lbs of boost. the problem is how efficently
it can make that boost. for example a small turbo would have to spin very fast to make boost and it would cause the air charge
to be very hot. a large turbo could make the same boost at a
slower speed and not heat the air charge...
does it back fire under boost only or at any certain engine rpm?
I find it hard to believe that most cylinders are at 35psi on a
compression test and it still starts. How thick is this resin type
stuff on your valves? if its a light coating then its probably not
aq big deal. It probably took...
If you're using 110 oct fuel, i'd invest in a race chip cause that
low timing 93 chip is holding you back. on that chip with 19lbs
of boost 100 oct would be just fine.
installing a turbo400 trans in your car did not cost you 35hp.
The rate of acceleration has changed.you're 200r4 trans has a 2.74:1 first gear ratio while the
turbo400 has a 2.48:1 first gear. you're loss was due to a
gear ratio change. If you're up grading to a larger turbo
anyway, then the...
I installed a GT40 turbo on my car and I love it. I only have a
2800rpm stall converter and the turbo still spools good.
I did have a serious endplay issue after 500miles but it was
due do my lack of turbo knowledge. This is not a bolt on turbo
though. It requires an external wastegate and...
I figured out what was wrong. I connected the white and
brown wires to the boost solenoid wire but then I reconnected
the purple/white wire back together so the controller was
putting 12v in that wire and ecm put 12v in the other wire to
the solenoid. the problem still was there though. I...
ok, I bought a bstc from fullthrottlespeed and hooked it all up.
well, it doesn't work. the red led comes on and even with
the knob set on high the boost is still the same 16lbs but
then I get a check engine light and code 31. so I checked
the voltage at the waste gate solenoid and I have...
ok, i think i can explain the function of it as a valve to bleed
boost away from the wastegate. so when the desired boost
level is obtained the computer closes the valve allowing all
boost to go to the waste gate. now the question is in normal
driving such as cruising is the solenoid open or...
the gt40 i have is the smaller of the two versions. the only
reason i went with this turbo is because i work for a garrett turbo
deal and got one smoking deal on it. but with all the mods such
as external wastegate ($250) and 4 bolt adapter ($50). the
down pipe is kind of custom. the...
Im running a gt40 right now and i love it. i have a 2800rpm
stall converter and i think it spools as good or better than
the stock turbo. it take quite a few modifications to make it fit.
it is a 4 bolt housing with an adapter. a big problem is that
the air inlet to the turbo was obstructed...
