    Towing with a TH200-4R

77 cruiser: thanks for the response, your deductions seem to make sense. Do you have a 77 Custom Cruiser wagon? Anyone who has an advice, feel free to comment.

    Towing with a TH200-4R

Perhaps I should just wire up a lock-up swtich and run it in third? Is there anyone with any advice? I really don't want to damage my transmission, but with the price of gas these days I also want to be economical.

    Towing with a TH200-4R

I have a GM fullsize wagon with a 7A head 307 Olds and a TH-200-4R (yes, it's a slug). I have been using it to tow my boat around since it makes a good vehicle for fishing trips. The car has a stacked plate 18,000 GVW tranny cooler, in addition to the factory in-rad cooler. The boat and...

    Poor Shift Quality

Well, the tranny isn't slipping, the shifts are just slow. The WOT shifts are still good and firm and quick. If this thing were worn that badly, I would think that it would slip under full load. The tranny fluid was dirty, but it wasn't as bad as I have seen in many other trannys that still...

    Poor Shift Quality

I have a stock '85 Olds 307 "Y" with a factory TH200-4R behind it. This car is just my daily driver, and I don't intend on modifying, as thus far it is a very cheap and very reliable ride. However, I am getting sick of the poor shift quality of my TH200-4R. I know that in stock form...

    Firm OD shift - problem?

Mark: could you try sending the other two photo's again? My account was too full to accept the other photo's, but I cleaned it up so it should be fine now. Thanks again for the help.

    Firm OD shift - problem?

I checked the TV cable as described previously, by disconnecting it from the carb and checking for tension. Also, when I first adjusted the cable, it made a huge change in the shift points. It was only after the adjustment of the TV cable that the OD shift became firm, before this it was okay...

    Can anyone offer some advice?

    Firm OD shift - problem?

I checked the cable and it's good. How do I check the tv exhaust check ball/lifter rod? Is the firm OD shift something that will damage my tranny in the mean time? Wouldn't a firm shift actually help reduce wear?

    Firm OD shift - problem?

I adjusted my TV cable on my tranny a little while ago. Ever since then, the OD shift has become very firm, even at very light throttle. Is this something to worry about? The tranny is a stock '85 Olds 307 TH 200-4R behind a Olds 307. It's only got about 70K on the tranny. I also have a '90...

    TCC Solenoid

Thanks! Sounds like it would definitely be a bad solenoid then. This place is very helpful so far, keep up the good work.

    TCC Solenoid

So it's also possilbe that the valve could be sludged up and sticking? Is there any way (other than regular fluid changes) to fix this? Is there a way to test the solenoid with a mutlimeter or test light to see if it is the problem?

    TCC Solenoid

I have heard this is the place to post when it comes to TH 200-4Rs. I don't have a Buick GN, but I do own several cars with TH 200-4Rs (and I have a couple spares too). It's really nice to find a forum with people who actually know their stuff on these trannys. I have a '90 Olds with a TH...
