Having no rust is a big plus. Mechanically , things can be fixed as needed. I think I would sit down with him and get a feel for what he wants. If he is emotionally attached to it , he may be thinking that it is worth way more than it really is. If this is really the only way to save his home...
More than likely the Alky was not flowing and you blew a head gasket into the valley.
I don't own a Hot-Air car but I have blown head gaskets more than once. Good Luck

That motor was only 9.6:1 . Piedmont is only a 1/8th mile track so I figured I would take the chance... That turned out to be a bad decision. I still race with the same thought.
