    Early TCC lockup

Never thought about it, but I looked at the emissions vacuum diagram under the hood yesterday evening, and it shows a converter switch with a vacuum delay in line. Found it mounted to the driver side fender. (Wondered what it was for). The disphragm in the switch is probably not like it should...

    Early TCC lockup

1980 Pontiac Grand Lemans 3.8L 200C Xmission RWD Stock Torque converter locks up at about 32 MPH, fairly quickly after shift to 3rd, with stop light to stop light type driving, too early, and causes some engine lug. I checked and adjusted per manual the TV cable, which seems to be working...

The tapping, when listened to with a hose to the ear is definitly coming from the front of the transmission and not the engine block. I checked all around the rear...

Tapping noise in 2004R and 200C

I have a 2004R and a 200c transmissions that are both doing the same thing. They have a tapping noise that is constant in the 2004R and intermittent in the 200c (tends to become more pronounced when hot on the 200c. When cold, rarely any tapping). The noise almost sounds like a valve lifter...
