700-r4 spacer plate
a friend dropped off a 1988 700-r4 and wanted me to tear into it and see what I could find wrong with it . I got it gutted and the most obvious thing is the spacer plate is trashed . Can I run the 700r4 filter?
I'm running the 700 filter in the stock pan , no spacer needed . Had to shorten the oil transfer tube on the valve body about 1/4 inch on each end . need to prevent the 4th gear pressure switch terminal from grounding out on the filter . Good to go .- stovebolt 34

I did the teflon tape under the scarf cut sealing ring on the outer part of the piston . The inner seal is not scarf cut ( solid ) . I didn't mess with it . Afraid I might destroy it by trying to remove it . Haven't reinstalled it to see what it does yet . I think my band clearance is...- stovebolt 34

No , the bind up if that's what it was is on the 1-2 shift . Directs are not dual fed . Just thinking , if I missed the band lug with the servo pin would it shift from 1-3 skipping 2nd ? I thought after I reassembled the billet servo with the CK return spring I had it covered but...- stovebolt 34

2 nd band apply .094 . 3 rd clutch apply .094 . 4 the clutch apply .078 . I used the red line bias spring that came with the much hated b&m shift kit . Don't know what caused the bind up . I used the stock width band . I did the band clearance by feel . Going back with the 692 servo...- stovebolt 34

It all started with my recent post on the Billet Servo that i had installed and was not too happy with . If you can find that post you can see what else I had done to the transmission . CK Performance shift kit instructions
Wow . . . In a zip lock bag vb gaskets & all . Creative way of packaging , no doubt . All of the springs etc . Are tagged and labeled . Without a ATSG manual you would be lost without the instructions unless you are a pro builder .- stovebolt 34

GM rebuilt 7BRF question
The " BRF " on the Green tag says you have the highly desirable valve body . Another member on this site clued me in about the ID tag being on the wrong side of the transmission . Band Clearance
As they say , more than one way to skin that proverbial cat . I see where you're coming from on the short pin strong spring . I got the strong spring cause Chris says with a billet servo and. Big boost valves you will have band drag . Oh we'll .- stovebolt 34

Band Clearance
Just got Chris's strong return spring ( I mean really strong ) . Got the transmision out and on it's back . Got the X plate in . Added one more shim to the piston pin . Seems to be right where Vince would want it . Got to take it out and put the seal and cushion spring in . Will...- stovebolt 34
