    Swapped to a 4L80E

The earliest ones used a different harness and connector, and as time went on GM changed/improved some things. The later ones (97+ i think) had the cooler return line going further back ("rear lube"). One of the sprags is smaller in the later ones, but I don't think that makes it weaker. The...

    Swapped to a 4L80E

Followup notes on the HD-2 shift kit. I used it because I wanted a set of springs and valves designed to work together. But I didn't use the 3-layer separator plate since I had heard of issues with cross-leaks. So I got a new plate, drilled the holes for the shifts, and did the internal...

@SGRIM @JayC are the admins that can sticky a thread. There are other, older threads but many of them have lost their pictures. I will dig out any pertinent links and put them in a post.

    Swapped to a 4L80E

I used the tailshaft housing and speedo gear kit from the ebay guy, it works well and is "stock-ish". The speedo cable boxes (there are a few kinds) work well from what I hear, the people that use them tend to mount them up by where our washer bottle is. Some use a signal from the ecu for...

    Swapped to a 4L80E

here's a list of the parts we used to install the transmission. the selector shaft was the only "internal" part and not truly necessary, As far as the building of the trans itself, I covered most of it but will do a summary post with part numbers. -----------installation parts adapter TCI-...

    Stock stereo brackets

I had looked on ebay before and didn't find any, which I thought was strange. I went back and tried another (different) search and did turn up 1 listing for a new pair, so I ordered them. Thanks Bob

    Stock stereo brackets

I'm going to be switching over to a single DIN style and the install kits all want me to use the stock style brackets. I don't have my old ones (long story). Anyone have a pair for sale? Bob

    Bad booster symptoms

Swapped to vacuum last week. I used a vacuum pedal from a junk car rather than drill mine. I used the big Caprice booster and master, Its a tight fit but works extremely well. Pedal feel is smooth and linear, pedal 'catch point' is fairly high. I have not tried a true panic stop, too much junk...

    Swapped to a 4L80E

So last week I drove to North Carolina and back, trans performed flawlessly. I have not had the chance to replace the TCC solenoid, so I drove it unlocked. The trans temp got to 175 on one of the long hills on the way back, but only that once. Most of the time it was 140 - 150. Played...

    More power 6776

Just a few idle thoughts.... A really lively turbo is just fun IMO, you have to be careful that it doesn't spool so easily that the pressure in the trans doesn't rise enough at light throttle. I agree that good boost control will make the car more driveable. Stickier tires might be a nice...
