    Lost to 2006 ZO6, by inches :(

1984 Monte SS Hi Scott and Mike. Glad to see you have talked about running the car. Mike, I had installed the 8.5 rear with an Eaton posi when I bought it back from you. I also swapped the TA-61 for a TA-60 for street drivability. Running street gas at Quaker City in Norwalk, I ran easy 12:60's...

1984 GN powered Monte Carlo SS

Thanks Jeff. I went to Quaker City Drag Strip last year and ended up in the sport compact lane for a time trial (I didn't know, I just wanted to run) and ended up abusing one of their fastest cars. I came around again and was not so politely informed that I was in the wrong row and it was only...

Monte SS conversion. Anyone have good pictures / tips on doing this?

The rearend held up for a long time, it had Moser 28 spline axles and a new posi. Remember, no real hard shock off the line and no clutch. The Camaros had this rearend. I swapped in the engine and GN transmission at the same time. My 84 SS had a Turbo 350 trans. I had to change the crossmember...

Monte SS conversion. Anyone have good pictures / tips on doing this?

Thanks for the compliment, send me your friends mailing address and I will send him a 6 or 7 page set of notes I did when I planned the conversion. Kind of confusing unless you have wiring diagrams for both cars. My car never had air, so that is one thing I didn't have to worry about. The 7.5...

1/4 time on 84GN after mods

Hi Paul, I use Direct Scan on my lap top. Are the 30# injectors stock for that year or they after market? Been 8 years since I had my 84. Reason I asked about the injectors is that the chip needs to be programmed for larger injectors. Doesn't matter what turbo you have, but sure does on the...

1/4 time on 84GN after mods

If you reduce your fuel pressure, you might go lean on the top end. What do you use for a scan tool? I am guessing the chip is too rich on the bottom end, that is why I suggested Eric. Send him an e-mail and tell him what you want, he can program for it.

1/4 time on 84GN after mods

I launched mine at 1# boost. A rich bottom end will not let the turbo spool fast enough. I would try for 780. E-mail Eric at Turbotweak. His chips aren't as rich on the bottom end and idle like a dream, even with my 009 injectors, and NO tip in hesitation. Lay a bag of ice on the throttle body...

1/4 time on 84GN after mods

I had an 84 t-type with similar mods. Went from 15.30's stock to 14.50's. Traction was a problem I had with stock tires. I was running 93 octain. I had a hole in the up pipe to the turbo that caused boost to be slow. With the small turbo setting on top of the motor, you should spool very fast. I...
