I have a 87 Monte SS 200R4 (CZF) that is shifting early (3200 rpm) on the 1-2 shift at WOT. 2-3 is good at 5000 rpms. It will down shift to 1st sometimes and then run up to 5000. TV cable is almost too tight as it down shifts at the slightest throttle input. It has the correct vb, govener, govener gear for the rear end and a larger boost valve. It shifts well and I can not feel any slipping. Pressures are good, at or above the ATSG manual numbers.
Is this a valve body issue with a sticking valve or misaligned gaskests, etc or could this becaused by something in the main part of the trans, i.e. 2nd gear band too tight, etc. Or maybe and issue with the govener?
Any ideas on where to look are appreciated as this is taking all the fun out of driving the car.
Thanks
