I just bought a 87WE4 Friday, my first turbo Buick. I have noticed under wide open throttle the 1-2 shift is a little sluggish. Is this something a shift kit would take care of or do you guys think the problem will require an overhaul.

Also, this is going to sound like a dumb question but where are the programmable ECM chips located.

Thanks - Jeff Render

ECM's chip are located in the kick pad on passenger side to the right of where your right foot would be if you were sitting in the passenger seat.

My turbo T had real sluggish 1-2 shifts also when I bought it. Do a search on tv cable adjustment and make sure it is set right. I ended up putting in a new pressure regulator set from PTS and a stiffer 1-2 shift accumulator spring. It helped some, but I think in my case I will need to have the tranny gone thru.

How many miles on the tranny? Have you changed the fluid yet?
I am no expert... but I think most will tell you that a shift kit will not help, but possibly make a "tired" tranny worse...

HTH
