hi,
i had my tranny go south on me a few weeks back so i gave it to my trans guy ive been dealing with for 15 years.after his inspection he tells me that i need a new core.he found one and used the non-brf case.i told him it was very important for him to use my valve body and servo etc etc.well,i just installed it tonight and the socket for the four prong plug was different.BAM!!!PROBLEM NUMBER ONE!i figured it could be corrected so i proceeded to finish to try tranny to make sure it at least worked.started her up.brought fluid level up and,BAM!!! PROBLEM NUMBER TWO!THE TRANS JUST PLAIN DOESNT WORK!NO FOWARD,NO REVERSE.NO NOTHING!needless to say,im not happy.so i have two questions to my two problems.how can the four prong plug being wrong be fixed and why wont the trans engage at all?could it have something to do with the brf valve body on a non brf trans?if the reboulder used the wrong plate behind the valve body from the old valve body could that cause this? let me know your thoughts tranny guru's

many thanks,nick

well

converter splines correct? Did they/you install a 30 spline converter by mistake? It is very easy to do. As far as thew connector, it can be changed in the car and needs to be. That or cut harness. All 2004r's did NOT have the same plug. Other than that it could be many things. Check to see if you have ANY line pressure at all. Then we can go from there. Also, how much fluid did you put in?

i put in 6 quarts and one in the converter.the converter is my unit.the plug on the car seeems to only have 3 terminals in it and my plug has four and four wires.

oh

you will need 13 qts minimum period. Add more oil first :D

actually what i meant was i started with 6 quarts then started it and added till full.sorry for the confusion.it definetely was full.i decided to take the trans back out today.it is going back to the rebiulder.im a bit doubtful now as to if i should even let him go any further.i am thinking about taking it up to eric at dynotech to have him find and fix the problem.

thanks,nick

Were you shown why your case could not be rebuilt? I would demand that my original case be returned if I were you. Sounds
funny that the rebuilder didn't put the right plug in the case. I
think he should have known better. There is no excuse for the wrong converter splines, either- if that was one of the problems!
Stuff like that makes me crabby. I hope things work out OK.

i just got the tranny back.he said that there was stripped splines in the planetary set he used.he didnt see it .he is a very nice guy.been dealing with him for years.i just think he's getting forgetfull and missing things becuase age is catching up with him.i think its time to find a new tranny guy.i doubtfull of this tranny lasting any long period of time.i guess i will see.next stop will be dynotech or del trans with it probably.i hope im wrong and it does last.

many thanks to everyone who responded.
