Brake Booster

Doing the power master conversion. Ordered an 11”. Anyone using that size, and if so did it cause any hassles with cables/wires getting it to fit?

Powermaster doesn’t use a booster. JK JK.

You can buy one for a regular Regal, Monte SS, or a Caprice. Wanna say mine is 9” so can’t help there.

Not many wires there. There’s a loom but shouldn’t be in the way. As for the PM wires just tape them & tuck them away.

Sorry for not being clearer. I’m replacing the PM with vacuum. Questioning as to whether or not an 11” booster would be so big as to cause fitment issues with the cruise control cable and the loom. Thanks.

If the PM is off just dry fit the booster and see how it fits & if ya got enough room for your liking.

Yep. To explain; I saw a good deal on a vacuum booster and ordered it. I won’t be able to remove the PM for awhile to see if the booster will fit. The option of returning the new booster might no longer be allowed then. I could return it when I get it, but will have to pay for return shipping. Just thought I’d ask if anyone was using an 11” booster and if so, did it fit okay or was it too big? No big deal. Thanks for the replies.

I don't know the mechanics of it but a. GM booster built for a Gbody car would be a fit that you can be sure it will work.
But people put LS in a GN I would not do that either

Believe the stock was 9/9-1/2”. That’s the one I run. The Monte SS may also be the 9/9-1/2”. The 1990 Caprice is 12” I believe.

I have no fitment issues with mine. The 11” or 12” boosters have been used without issue, just may tighten the space.

Basically gonna be whatever fits your fancy.

Years ago, in an effort to improve vacuum braking performance , I swapped out my 9” dual diaphragm brake booster to a larger 11” dual diaphragm booster . I don’t recall exactly, but think it was for a B Body car.
It fit, but doesn’t leave a lot of room for the other stuff, but no issues .
Eventful went to a HydroBoost system which I’m very happy with

9" dual not only fits better but offers more assistance than 11" single, it's also what came on the 1987 Buick Regal (non turbo) 8.8" dual booster, not expensive new.

When you went from the 9” dual to the 11” dual did you notice any difference? Thinking of returning the 11" and going with the 9”. I might be over-thinking this, but I tend to do that sometimes. Thanks

Didn’t really notice much difference , hence I removed it leaving the firewall a little less cluttered.
