I just bought a set of Hoosier slicks mounted on mid '80's Firebird wheels (7"). I was thinking of putting the slicks on my stock T wheels. Will a 7" wheel be o.k. or would a bigger wheel make a difference?
I've used Mickey Thompson 10x26 slicks on stock (15x7) wheels for years without problem. I use a 1/2" spacer behind each wheel. If the wheels you're using have more or less backspacing, you'll need to adjust as necessary.
Back in 1988 we ran M&H 10x26" slicks on stock Grand National rims and not too many people knew a lot about these cars. I would go to the track and put the slicks on and while in the staging lanes nobody would talk to me, but when I came back from a pass everybody wanted to talk!! We had real good luck using those slicks on stock rims.
