What do u guys think lookin for a new set of rims tring to decide on 15in or 17in wheels. If I go with 17in what kinda size tire can I run in the back? I want to run dr's all summer long.

Car is lowered and is burgandy 86 t-type

Thanks

I just started looking myself and have found that 17 tires are easier to get in a wider pattern. But the 15 will do better with DR I think.

I am going to go the summer with 16x8 GNX look a like rims. Sumitomo 255x50-16 and maybe 225 upfront. Looking into a drag TA for the original GN 15 wheels. I am saving up for the Simmons rims and then probably 255x45-17 and 235x50-17.

It depends on what you want. For cornering - 17" wheels. For looks on a dropped car, I think the 17"s would look better. For straight line traction - 15" would rule.

15s are better for traction in a straight line, but when i go to the track i run 15s and slicks in the rear anyways. I'm running 17" Torque thrust 2s and love them with 315 nittos in the rear so traction isn't horrible or anything. One of the best mods ive done to my car. The handling is definatly a lot better and it has just the look i want. Here are a few pics if your curious...

I've also been looking into one or the other.....I'm pretty sure i'm going with the 17's. Mines going on the street mostly. I think 17 x 7's up front and 17 x 8's in the back both with 4" BS. Has anyone tried 17 x 9's with zero rub...

I run 17x9.5s on mine but they do rub a tiny bit. With new shocks im possitive it wouldn't at all, it only does it at really hard highspeed turns or if there are more than 2 people in it.

are the 9.5's with 4" BS, and what size tires are on your cars. I've been looking at some boyd wheels, what do you guys have?

I have 18" Simmons, but the proven 17" set up in a 17x8 w/4" bs and a 245 45 17 and 17x9.5 w/4.75 bs and a 275 40 17. You can squeeze a little more under there but you might need minor mods.

I have only run the 15" DR myself. I would think the 15" would hook better due to more sidewall for wrinkling.

I cut a best of 1.64 on 275/60/15 nittos and i have only run my 17" 315/35/17 nittos twice. both runs i barely heated them and really didnt launch the car as it was my first pass of each night, but they both resulted in spinning low 1.80s. Im sure they can pull some low 1.70s but on the street the 15s definitely had a huge advantage from the sidewall actually flexing a bit.

ya i was kinda leaning towards 15's what do u guys perfer nittos or bfg's???
