hello guys. There's an 86 GN on eBay with 9947 miles. Signed by Molly which is cool. What is the value in your opinion on this car. Does being an 86 hurt it or help. Thanks VINNY

I don't think the year really makes a difference, they are the Exact same cars except for a few exterior/interior cosmetic differences. Yes they made less 86s than 87s but rarity doesn't always mean something is worth more. For a car with those miles and if the condition reflects the mileage and it has plenty of documentation, I would say that cars value is probably around $35k without seeing it...

NADA High retail is $27k.

NADA is a joke, and is used by Auto dealers for value of cars for 'trade in' value which we all know is shit. KBB is a joke as well. I use Hagerty which uses Auction Prices and Insurance Value Trends, which both of these tend to reflect the direction of a market for a car much more accurately than dealer values that kbb and nada use. So with that, below is a value graph from Hagerty for an 86 GN....

so then its really a matter of preference or what one may like. it wouldn't be a wrong move to buy an 86. if one was worried about resale. also if you were to pay say 23 to 25k for this car than your doing well or made out on the deal. no?

I'd say you've done damn good if you can get it in that range. I'm sure you're aware but I wouldn't blow all my expendable cash on the purchase itself. These cars always have needs. A car with that low mileage is no different and tends to develop many needs once you start driving it regularly after sitting idle for most of its life. Just my 2 cents...

All well and good, but I seriously doubt this car fits the #1 criteria (concours). I only know of a few that actually fit that definition.

I agree not many meet concourse status. Also that's a good point on needs I'm sure this car like many will need a few thousand to get it to where you would be confident driving it any distance Might be better buying a higher mileage more used vehicle.

Like I said in my first post, "For a car with those miles and if the condition reflects the mileage and it has plenty of documentation.... and without seeing it..." a car with those low of miles could fit condition 1 and could be worth around the $35k I stated...but the car could obviously be on the flipside of that as well and be a condition 3 or 4 car and be worth half of that amount.
