There was an active WH1 registry once upon a time, but even then I don't remember comprehensive RPO records being kept. I've heard estimates of anywhere between 150-200, but how accurate that is I do not know.
I really just "guesstimate" based on what info I've dug up over the years. I'd guess that maybe 60-75% of the 86 WH1 cars have either the T-tops or the Astroroof.
One thing I've noticed on the 84-86 cars more than the 87 cars is that either they are loaded to the top with options or stripped down Plain Janes. Now the 87s were just option constricted because of the new CAFE rules that took effect in 87 which just means it was rare to see a loaded down car because they just weighed to much. But since these were Buicks it was somewhat easier for a dealer to add on the options and sell them which is why you see a lot of the 84-86 cars with almost every type of option offered from the factory. And next to the GN a WH1 was probably the second most expensive Regal sold at the time.
What's kind of funny is that almost half of the 1984 T-Types got the WH1 option but less than a quarter of the 1986 T-types were WH1s. Bonus points if your WH1 has a red interior.
Just curious why you didn't like the electronic climate control?? Both of my 86 GN's have it and I like it and have never had any issues with either of them. Have owned the 1 GN since 1986 and the other since 1998.
