what changes can be expected with different 2-3 shift valve springs? I have 3 different springs which may or may not be right, ranging from 15/16 to 1&5/16. Trying to undo an Art Carr kit.

The correct spring is .230in diameter and 1.160in long. Its white with a red stripe. If backing out the kit be sure to completely back it out or you could find yourself dropping the pan multiple times trying to figure out why the unit is acting up.

Got it, thanks Bison!
Chris, digi-cam is crapped out and don't have digital signal for the phone camera to work. I'll let you know if the 2-3 is better. The pan was clear of clutch dust, but I'm afraid the steels are toast.

put in the white/red stripe along with the rest of the CK kit. the flare is gone but 2-3 shift still taking too long. clutches by spring time.

You could be losing a lot of oil at the center support if the direct drum has high mileage on it and the bore where the rings seal is worn.
