2001 Buick Regal with Idel problem

I know this is a newer Regal but I am just trying to diagnose this problem before I try to tow it to a mechanic.It starts fine but if I do not hold the gas pedal down to keep the Idel up it dies is it a vacume leak or somthing or gas problem any help.Thanks Steve

Do this.

Unplug the maf sensor.

Start car and see if it will idle

Is the check engine light on?

everytime we have seen this problem it has been the intake manifold leaking at the gasket.
