2003 eclipse 40k miles, oil leaking through valve cover gasket, pressure, bad pcv???

Im changing my girls car, and notice oil around the valve cover gaskets. while the car is running with the oil cap off, i noticed alot of air "puffing" out of the hole. Is it supposed to be like this. Seems like theres alot of pressure. I thought maybe the pcv is clogged, but when I took the hose off, the car shut down which leads me to believe that its working? Any other suggestions, it has 40k miles on it and Im not sure what the deal is.

Your PCV is not working properly. If you remove the oil cap and the eng. changes RPM. You PCV may be bad.

Thats hot air non intercooled BUICK post, im not going to throw this eclipse in there and disrupt the buick discussions, thats why I went in the lounge. Now I left you alone back in the police officer post, so please refrain from this post unless you have some useful information to help diagnose this "automobile" problem.

yes it died when i removed the hose connected to the pcv

By the way the new Eclipse is set to hit dealers Labor Day weekend.(if anyone cares)Saw pics and specs at a conference in Orlando a while back.It's ok but just seems to lack something on the rear.Kinda favors the 350Z with the optional body spoiler pkg.Not real crazy about it without the spoiler pkg.It's about a $2100 option. Dealer cost around $1800.The interior/gauges look really good,colors are tentalively black,gray,red and what Mitsu calls "glow rotor red".Which is a copper color.A 3.5 285hp v-6.They didn't show us any performance figures.But if I get one for a demo I'll let yall know

I doubt It'll be quicker than an EVO, I witnessed a BONE Stocker run a 13.00@106 at Maple Grove last November on an Easy Pass .
Had 200 miles on the clock.

Im wondering if it is blowby???? Seems like a very large amount of puffing. I just replace the pcv valve. The old one was messed up inside (a spring mangled). Just dont feel that this was the problem though. Unless its supposed to be puffing?
