I found what I believe is a 200r4 tranny in a NA 86 Regal at a local pick and pull yard? I think the motor was a 305 but I didn't look that close at it. Anyone know anything about these trannys. Is it possible that a 200r4 would be in an NA 305 Regal?

According to the "GN/T-Type Facts and Figures" book, the 200-4R was an option on Regals with V-8's. I think the major difference would be the valve body and governor.

I'll split this thread to the Transmission Section, so that it can be answered more accurately.:)

That combo is extremely common up here in Canada - most all of the late model G-bodys have a 305 SBC with the 2004R trans. My parents 87 Cutlass also has this setup .

Does the tranny has the BRF metal tag on it?
If not then it doesn't have the same valve body as the turbo engine one.
