I want to modify my overdrive clutch piston so i can use 3 clutch disks instead of the factory 2.

How much should I take off the piston? I've read 0.070in and 0.080in but I'm not sure which is correct. It's currently 1.720 inches tall... what should it be?

Thanks

Right out of "strength the 200" in the stickies at the top

*3+4 CLUTCH
4th clutch, a 3 clutch piston should be used (2 is stock). A stock cut to .070 will work just fine.
4th gear clutches of any brand will work. We have been using the Alto Red Eagle clutches with very good luck.

size

Piston should be 1.630 thick, the thickness of one friction + clearance on each side of friction

Well... I got a little too aggressive and ended up with 1.621 instead of 1.630
Is it a throwaway now or can I still use it?

I know... measure twice cut once...

You should be ok.I think it is much easier to turn down the edge of the pressure plate for the snap ring to get clearance.I may start doing this.
