hey crowd.

A recent conversation got me thinking, and I want your opinion.

My new build will have a front mount (most likely RJC) and TE45a.

Is it beneficial to go with 3.5" MAF or is it the same shit that 3"? LT1 MAFs is still plenty available and all same size piping (3") would liok nicer under the hood.

Thank you much

If you do go with an 85mm ZO6 maf, the side that connects to the maf pipe is 3.7" and a 3.5" coupler will stretch, the filter side is 3.87". A 4" filter will squeeze down nicely.
If I would have known this I would have went with a 4" filter in the first place.

I went this route and a 3.5" maf pipe because it looks more like a "no maf" set up to me than some of the others, plus I can use the built in iat sensor w/ the right adaptor.

For what's it's worth.

If starting from scratch, go 3.5". Better flow out of the filter neck and less pressure drop.

The 3.5 has given better spool every time I've made the swap.

If you measure the flow area of a 3" pipe, a 3" LT1 has 60something % flow area. The 3.5" has 80something percent.
