Anyone currently have a 4" single shot exhaust on they're TR?
How does it sound vs the GN1 dual 3"?

Joe

The 4" exhaust idles real nice. Cold startup is a bit loud. If you aren't boosting while driving the drone can be bothersome. If you coast while letting off the gas, no drone at all. WOT is super loud. I got 3"dp to the 4"exhaust no converter.

I've listened to those sound clips.....
No offense to Jason, but all of those sounds clips are terrible quality and do nothing for me.

If I can manage to borrow a go pro, I could get you an awesome clip. Personally i love the sound that my exhaust makes at wot. Kinda like a rumbling burp. It's actually buickgn.com 4" exhaust. I had difficulty putting it in only because my kenne bell style headers aren't perfect, so they cause the turbo to sit a little off and it translate straight through the downpipe down to the exhaust. So if your headers are good and turbo and downpipe fits really nice, so will the exhaust.

Right now, cash is tight to spend $400 on a go pro.

You just can't transmit the 'feel' of an exhaust note with videos. The one think I'm thinking about is getting over the rear axle. My ATR single shot was considered to be extremely well fitting and it was a bitch getting over the axle without hitting the body and leaving the axle room to articulate. When I got that part in right the tip's hanger was in a bind and the tip was a little too under the car for my liking.

A 4" as to be way worse. I, too, like loud but I HATE banging pipes.

With the shock off and letting the axle hang down, (wheel off), I managed to put the rear section of the 4" pipe that is behind the muffler over the axle in. Pretty simple when the shock was out and axle hung low.

My experience: the good--- looks cool, sounds super good for the track, sounds very nice at idle
The bad--- ear bleeding drone, slightly difficult to bolt on (lift helps), mine had crap welds at the front and back of muffler

If you like loud go for it.... if you can tolerate the drone its for you... the sounds bits are not even close. (now I realize thats difficult to capture) I got rid of it, I like to be able to talk to the passenger.

I may be wrong, but I'm betting you have trouble with clearance if your car is lower.... not sure though

600 bucks for a single?? Damn!!! Sounds good tho..

Ya i am not sure either. Ive had to deal with drone in the past on a full size chevy with a single 3" out. It was nice when you hit the skinny pedal, and under normal acceleration. The drone was bad once she was in OD.

I have the 4 inch single and its coming off because of the drone. I cant stand it.

I have had a 3" ATR single, Terry Houston 3.5" single, and now I have a 4" that dumps at the axle. The 3" was the worst. IMO, the 3" dual GN1 is the best exhaust for a car that gets driven, no drone while driving, loud at WOT.

The 3 inch GN1 is what will go back on mine

Ya Rob, i was checking out your set up when i seen your monster at the dyno session. Your car sounds nucking futs!!!
Love it.

I've already planned on getting the dual 3" kit (GN1) style from Mark.
I toss things around in a head a bit tho.
I like the muscle sound of a good single, and the weight savings to boot.
I am on the fence about the look of a single on my car tho. We'll see when over time kicks in. I can't keep money in my pockets to save my life, so im sure i'll snatch up what ever deal i can find when that time comes.......
Racer on a budget, family man first.
