okay after spending a day and a half cleaning up the tranny fluid from everywhere, sanding and polishing the exhaust that is just fugly from all the fluid and fixing what I though was my tranny leak it still looks like it is leaking. it is a 400 and has all new lines the problem is the bottom line leaks. to be precise it looks like it is leaking between the fitting and the line itself (ie between the brass fitting and the steel line)

so for the questions just to make sure what size line should I be using? not that I could really screw this up

is there any way to seal it better, it isn't like thread tape would help since it is a flare fitting? I mean I have checked to make sure it is tight about 10 times. I will try to remove it tomorrow but I am very sure it is not crossthreaded. I suppose I could just bend up a new line but that might not do any good and will waste a lot of time.

Also it only leaks when I am giving it hell, I suppose as the line pressure comes up it basically overcomes the seal and 'sprays' fluid all over.

AHHHHHH this thing is killing me. It is kind of embarrising when your 11 sec car is smoking like an oil fire

thanks for any advise

I'll bet it is venting. Not that this is it but 400's are notorious for that if the pump halfs are mismatched. Just a thought......

god I hoped that you would reply bruce, explain that a bit more, by venting do you mean through the top 'vent' line, if that is the case I would not think this is a problem since the vent line is run quite a long way from here the leak seams to me, though I will look at it more tomorrow. And explain the pump halfs thing. how can they really be mismatched? it was built by Jimmy not cause I think he is the best (I have heard some bad stories, and some really good ones too) but he was about 10 blocks from where I used to work so it seamed logical since I could watch it be built. so do I just hae to live with this? I am about to just wrap a rag around the line and replace it everytime I take the car out.

on another note can you send my a PM with a phone number or something I am looking to get my old 200 fixed and need some advice and parts, and I like to keep the $$$ in the TB community

Fitting leakz??

The leak very well could be the flare on the line being cracked from repeated tightening...
