What do you want a cookie. I went 10.58 on drag radials with iron heads and a P-trim Stealth 70. My new combo was at the track once and I went 10.80's at 128 on drag radials with 18 psi. So my car is a second off I dont know too many people with a stock block that can run 9.80's on drag radials on 18 psi.

Sorry Fuelie about the trash talking and very few awnsers to your question good luck on your turbo selection who ever you decide to go with.

Most of my reply was information on the reliability of the Turbonetics turbos based on my 1st hand experience for the thread starter. Now I realize that some people would rather rely on information they read on the internet about different turbos used on different cars, but I have a feeling the thread starter would rather have 1st hand information based on actual real world experience in a car that is very similiar to his own. I could be wrong.

Now if you thought my entire reply was directed to you let me clarify. Only that first part where I pointed out that you sound like an idiot is directed to you. The rest is for the thread starter. :D

mmmmm.....cookies....reminds me I have 1 serving, 6 cookies, of chips ahoy just waiting for me and a tall glass of milk :p

So is it winter or maybe the snow or possibly people not able to drive their TR's....seems like so many threads lately on the board with content from folks with their panties in a bunch...sheesh....:D

Like Sully, I too run the Turbonetics 70Q-BB on a iron headed 109 with stock crank and rods. I switched from a PT-70 P trim which I ran a best of 10.56 at 128mph. With the Turbonetics I have shaved that to 10.12 at 133mph. It went 135mph last time out before the rear broke. I have not had any reliability problems.
Jack was working with Turbonetics to develope a new 70 turbo for TSM but with new Turbo rules and method of checking compressor wheels it would't have been legal. It will be interesting this year to see if there are a few TSM cars that will still be a 1/2 second faster than still the rest of us.

From the last TSM turbo rule the PT 70 GTQ that put me in the 9.50's is legal.

What are the other turbos that may be illegal???

Dave I had a feeling that this was going to be a problem.
I think that the rules are going to be set up for garrett based units. I think that the super t from turbonetics can have an ASME Bell Inlet making it hard to use the existing plug test.

For the guys here who posted from experience ( Russ, Ted A, MaxPSI, Sully, and others ), with sound advise, THANK YOU. Along with this input, and with talking to Joe Lubrant, John Craig, Red Armstrong, and of course Jack Cotton---( must have logged 4 hours on the phone ), I have chosen a turbo which I know will work well for my combo. Thanks again, Brian

Almost forgot--Turbonetics 70QBB.

Dave , no disrespect to you or any of the cars a "1/2 second faster". You have set the bar for the rest of us and have done it legally.
There are some rumors floating around that some are using larger compressor wheels clipped down to fit the 70 housing. I was going to do the same thing. As far as the old way of checking ,measuring with a 71.5 mm plug it would have passed inspection. Now, 1st and 2nd place finisher will remove copmpressor covers for measurment and the larger wheels will be illegal. Which wheels are legal and how they are measured I'm not sure. I just hope the method of measuring isn't bias to one manufacture.

They have specified the GTQ71 Billet wheel to have the same measurments as the 72 wheel, it is tighter in the housing, so I would challenge them to try and have a rule excluding any wheel who meets the inducer size and exducer size equal to the wheel described as legal and the largest known legal deemed wheel we can speak of as of today.

I also hope they do not get vendor specific.
