Well, all trannys work on the same hydraulic principals , but the 2004r and 700r4 are a little different. The Govenors work differently also.
The main difference is the 700 uses a band (the second gear band) to engage 4th gear or OD where as the 2004r uses a clutch. Also, the OD in a 200 is in the front of the trans and only driven through it when in OD. The 700 has the od in the back and is always running the planet to drive forward.

That helps, the reason I was asking is because I have a THM 700-R4 Technician's guide in hand. I was hoping I could look at the schematics to gain a general understanding of what's going on with my 200 from a hydraulic stand point.

There is a good 200-4R 'Principals of Operation' book out there that covers the hydraulics step by step. Highly recommended.

the hydraulics are basically the same.pump feeds pressure reg,pr feedsthe tv limit ,tv limit feeds the plunger.plunger regulates tv up and down and derivatives as well as line pressure.manual valve feeds the governor ,3 sets of shift valves,a 3/2 control valve,similar accumulators,similar everything except governor and mechanical planetary and clutch drum layout.the 2004r governor however gives 0 trouble most of the time when compared to the 700 type.diagnosing hydraulic problems is very similar.
