Hi, My transmission is shot. I have access to a pretty built 700r4. What has to be changed to make this transmission work in a turbo trans am? I know I need TCI transmission adapter, but what about the cross member and drive shaft length?
Thank you,
John

In my honest opinion it wouldn't be worth it. The only reason I didn't go with the 200 in my swap was because I'd have to swap the torque arm, driveshaft and crossmember. The biggest thing I've noticed with the 700 is that due to the steep first gear the turbo doesn't get going, as soon as you launch it's time to shift into 2nd, once it hits 2nd though OH MY does she take off :)

I'd say stick with a 200-4r...

Fly, You don't like the 700! I've heard the TTA's love the second gear and actually run a little quicker(supposedly). Just wondering to rebuild the 200 when it goes or send out my old 700. Really don't wanna have the fitment problems with the driveshaft/exhaust/crossmember,etc. But if it is more desireable it'll do...

Oh yeah it loves 2nd gear, takes off like a bat out of hell once it hits second but 1st gear is so steep and so fast it doesn't really get the car going, I don't know..I'll have to drive another TTA to see if I can tell the difference...

Dont drive mine then. I took 19TTA89 for a drive down E-town Fri night. No instant boost and no brake boost at all. Gotta see if I miscalculated the size of the turbo. It may be larger than I thought. He said his has instant boost mine takes a while to build.

On my runs I dont see boost until a little before the 60' and max boost doesn't come in till a little before the 1/8 mile mark. If it is indeed larger that would explain why it is running lean up top(hell of a lot of air up there) and why running through the exhaust limits the boost to 14.

With the cutout opened it pulls on the big end like crazy. I usually pick up about 28mph on the second 1/8. Which is crazy!
