These results reflect the record holders, qualifiers, and final round contestants at each of the
SX Performance Street Car Shootout Series events held each Tuesday at Gateway
International Raceway in Madison, Illinois.

Tuesday SCSS Track Records can be set during official qualifying or championship rounds. The
official qualifying period begins at 6:30 PM and concludes at 9:00 PM, barring unforeseen
circumstances. At 9:30 PM, the two quickest qualifers meet in a no-handicap championship round for
trophies. Each of the Top 16 qualifiers receives a "Fastest Street Car Qualifier" decal. The SCSS
trophies and decals are presented by SX Performance Fuel Systems in St. Louis, MO (6
Sunnen Drive, 314-644-3000, http://www.sx-performance.com ). Additionally, the two
quickest Sport Tuner drivers, (open to all passenger cars except Rear-Wheel-Drive vehicles with
engines of six cylinders or more), also meet in a no-handicap championship round for trophies
presented by St. Louis Street Racing.com (http://www.stlsr.com) and the two quickest Super
Truck drivers, (open to all trucks and utility vehicles), meet in a no-handicap championship round for
trophies presented by http://www.GatewayRaceway.com .

AUGUST 15th, 2006 SX PERFORMANCE STREET CAR SHOOTOUT FINAL ROUND

Pos Name Hometown ST Vehicle R.T. ET MPH

W Rodney Overfelt, St. Louis, MO 1965 436 Mustang 0.233 28.350 37.33
RU Gary Tripp, Imperial, MO 1969 406 Camaro -0.012 (foul) 9.707 142.60

I wasn’t at the event, but here’s the Cliff Notes version of the race only six days late! The corrected
elevation was the best for an SX Performance Street Car Shootout Series meet since May 16th, (a
low of 969 feet above sea level), which accounted for the largest turnout since June 13th.

The “bump spot” for the Super Sixteen was the twelfth quickest ever but, more impressive, the Top
Eight was the quickest in SCSS history and the first time the top eight qualifiers ran quicker than
11.00 seconds. Apparently, it was “Old School Night” since half the qualified field was comprised of
pre-1971 machines. In the final round, Rod Overfelt’s blue smallblock ‘65 Mustang fastback broke
but coasted to the slowest winning time ever after newly-licensed Gary Tripp redlighted away a
career-best 9.70/142.60 by twelve thousandths of a second! It was Overfelt’s third SCSS victory,
fourth career final round, and his first event of 2006.

NOTES FROM THE SCSS: Tony Buhl still leads the 2006 Season Championship point
standings with Tony Huff and Hal Marshall right behind him. The point championship is determined
by the number of Qualifier stickers earned with each driver’s best ET of the season used as a
tie-breaker...Tony Huff is now tied with 2004 SCSS Season Champion Laurence Bass for the most
Fastest Street Car Qualifier decals earned since the series started in 2004; both drivers have 25
stickers. Huff is also one win away from tying Dave Odenahl for the most event victories since the
series started (five) and has already appeared in the most final rounds (ten)...Mickey Boyer’s
Imperial, Missouri-based smallblock ‘69 Nova qualified at 10.20/131.97 but missed officially
becoming the fourteenth member of the SCSS 9-Second Club by running 9.921/135.80 four minutes
after qualifying ended!...Joe Williams’ yellow ‘70 Nova ran in the 11.40s again to qualify but stepped
up to an exceptional 11.202/119.87 career-best in late timed trials.

AUGUST 15th, 2006 STLSR.COM SPORT TUNER SHOWDOWN FINAL ROUND

Pos Name Hometown ST Vehicle R.T. ET MPH

W Adam Corbitt, St. Charles, MO 1985 122 Golf 0.041 11.628 124.53
RU Phillip Hoback, Collinsville, IL 1993 79 RX7 0.437 12.903 113.88

Adam and Dave Corbitt’s amazingly consistent turbocharged Volkswagen Golf GTi scored its second
consecutive victory for the Polk Audio team outrunning August 1st STSS runner-up Phil Hoback’s
black Mazda RX-7. Ironically, Hoback was called in as second alternate after second qualifier Brian
Orsborn’s Neon SRT-4, (12.341/120.25), and first alternate Bill Buell’s white 3000GT, (12.558 at a
best-ever 119.49 mph), were unable to make the final round. Hoback had qualified at a career-best
12.714/114.31 but Corbitt ran more than a second quicker in qualifying at 11.597/124.83, missing his
own SCSS Front-Wheel-Drive track record by only fourteen thousandths of a second. The team also
made an 11.607/124.94 timed trial before the championship bout! Corbitt is now one event victory
from tying Patrick Jacobsmeyer for the most wins in the St. Louis Street Racing.com Sport Tuner
Showdown Series (seven).

AUGUST 15th, 2006 GATEWAYRACEWAY.COM SUPER TRUCK SHOWDOWN FINAL
ROUND

Pos Name Hometown ST Vehicle R.T. ET MPH

W Hal Marshall, Collinsville, IL 1986 383 S-10 0.853 10.718 124.67
RU Don Hilderbrand, Shipman, IL 1967 455 C10 0.503 14.387 96.00

Well, he got his new 383 cubic inch “stroker” smallblock, put it in the little white S-10 and picked up
right where he left off before the August 8th engine explosion which knocked him out of the running
after seven consecutive victories. Hal is back!

After qualifying with a great 10.87/123.93, Hal ran a career-best 10.71 in the final against Don
Hilderbrand’s 455 Olds-powered ‘67 C10. Hilderbrand also got into the final as an alternate when
Mike Floyed’s 2000 Lightning, (13.66/101.64), failed to appear for the trophy dash.

Hal Marshall’s newest record, (other than a sixteenth victory...more than twice as many as any
other Tuesday SCSS competitor), is the fact he has now won more GatewayRaceway.com Super
Truck Showdown than all other truck racers combined. Only Randy Christy has more than
one victory in the division, (four), and Hal Marshall has appeared in almost two thirds of all Super
Truck final rounds, (nineteen out of thirty finals)!
