8.5 rearend

Does anyone know if a 8.5 posi carrier out of a 75 chevrolet will fit in a 87 t-type housing or is there a diffence in buick housing.

does a 10 bolt have a 2 or 3 series carrier? or is it just one size? i have a carrier with a 276 gear and want to put a 342 on it. will it work?

10 bolts have series 2's and 3's depending on gears. The older carriers have a number cast into the side of them. If it's an "8" then it's a series 3. If it's a "9" then it's a series 2. You want an "8" series 3.

i think the breaks on carriers are 2.73 and down, and 3.08 and up.
