If you got a 84-85 turbo you would be backing up replacing the 86-87 turbo with it as the 86-87 turbo flows more.:D

If it is brand new as the auction says then you have some recourse selling it to a hot air guy that can use it.If it is good you got it for a good price.List it in the parts for sale section.

never buy from someone with no pictures.. alot of people are IGNORANT AS CAN BE about grand nationals.

I took my GN to a shop today.. the manager looked UNDER THE HOOD... anmd then asked me "oh, does this have the turbo?"

sd;lfksfsdflk .. and alot wont even know they made them in 1984/85 ... ive even gone to acdelco endorsed shops and they've been as ignorant as to CORRECT me by telling me "no, you're wrong, they didnt make these cars in 1984.."

...so ..look for pics next time!

That is kinda crappy, however the turbo should work on your car. just dont expect it to perform well. But it looks like you got a good deal on it. So I would try re-selling it as a hotair turbo. You should see some results, as they are not easy parts to come by. And a lot of guys are sticking with stock turbo. I have a brand new stock 84/5 turbo brand new too. had it for like 3 years. I am going to attempt to run it on my car with my intercooler setup to see how it will run. Should pull good, but with an intercooler, it will run outta steam at higher RPM's. Good luck with the turbo d00d!

got it going

thanks for all the input guys...i didnt get it for the amount listed...he sold it to me for 275.00 shipped...

this is my car

http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=52222

im not in it for racing at the track...just play around car...last night i stayed up all night working on it and it actually did come to life...i'm certain that i havent ironed everything out yet...i really need a wiring harness because the previous owner upgraded the 84 harness himself...it ran pretty good, however the outlet (pressure) side of the turbo that i installed looks like its designed for an o-ring type fitting..it didnt really lend itself to the hose and clamp...so it blew it off where i clamped it to the IC...

ive contacted the seller and he insists that the turbo is for an 87 model and tells me that im crazy (even though i sent links for direct comparisons) and says hes going on vacation for 3 weeks...i checked his other auctions, and he has a number of 'new' items for sale....i warned whoever i was able to but then i ran into 'private' auctions he was holding for nickle and dime items..

thats what i get for going the inexpensive route..

anyway, his name is ralph dillon from GA...and his ebay name is BIRDMANPOOL....

thanks again guys...

got it going

I forgot to mention that the unit is NOT brand new...it was rebuilt in 2000...according to the stamped date on it....the exhaust portion on it (where you bolt on the downpipe) is a huge lookin chamber and attaches to a 3" downpipe...larger than the one i took off....the turbocharger is smaller though....

That 84-85 turbo will work but as I said and some one else said it will not run to potential or right. I remember that car being for sale and actually inquired about it. Good luck.

Glad you're happy!

:D Sorry for the off subject post! Polish that system or paint it and it'll look great!!:D

So how is this car coming along , remember if you change engine harness you also need to change crank sensor they wire up different. Scored a hot air moter last night so cheep I wont even post what I paid 100% complete< wow> is your friend still instered in the ecm? I geeting ready to post the last of the buick parts for sale just wanted to give you guys 1st shoot before I post.

car is fine

the car is running and driving and got paint on it...i cant bust 11 psi but happy anyway...maybe because of the huge wastegate elbow ....backpressure relate maybe..(i have no idea what im talking about) i cleared some codes that accumilated when it was started w/out turbo maybe and only get a mat code 23...guess i need to investigate the possibility of putting one in...even at 10 or eleven psi, this thing starts blinking the speedo at 85mph QUICK...i want those stock wheels!!! need more control...want to sell the racing ones that you let me have on it...looking forward to you coming over to check us out this saturday...if you cant, ill go there to buy your stuff...still looking for a stock 86-87 turbocharger...ill sell my new rebuilt 84-85 for cheap if i find one soon...
