I've not had any bites on my 84 matching # GN, but someone contacted me tonight about a trade for a built 89 IROC convertible with 86k miles.

It's supposedly mint, has a built 400 Engine kicking 500 HP, and has some kind of T---tech built transmission.. It's got alot of chrome and show/go stuff on it as well. The car is supposedly a nasty animal.. It's black with black top and gold interior with gold Iroc rims.

I want $7K for my car and am getting no bites after 8 weeks of advertising in a number of places. He believes his car is worth $9K-ish, but just wants a local GN to drive and will straight trade. I was thinking of trading and flipping the IROC. I'm not sure of the true value of the IROC, though like a GN it is a future collectible.

BTW, I still have my 87 GN...

is it worth it??

I would find out what rear-end it has in it. The stock rear-end in those won't handle 400 hp very well. And they came with a 9 bolt or 10 bolt. I would want to know if it has some kind of sub frame connectors or bracing. The uni-bodies can't handle a lot of stress, especially a convertible. With the right support though, they are fine. Make sure the Iroc-z decals are on the back of the doors. And it should say Iroc-z on the ground effects and rear bumper. It will say Z28 and iroc-z on the dash. Should have fog lights up front and the fake vents on the hood. It could have 15 inch or 16 inch wheels in that year. Might even check the RPO codes inside the center console to be sure every option on the car matches up. If you care about all that stuff. I don't think the Iroc-z's will be worth what a GN will be worth, but a convertible might be as they are more rare. Is it fuel injected yet? I just thought I would throw some Iroc-z crap at ya. Just so you can see if the car is correct so to say. Check out IROC-Z.COM too. Will give you some history on the iroc's. -Nick.

if the car is super clean-enough to lick the center cap on the wheel, MAYBE! I had a 86 z28 with t-tops and it was the biggest ricketty piece of crap. THe money I stuck in that car I could have bought a pretty nice gn. If it still fuel injected and it has the accel tunnel ram intake, runners, and plenum on it then yes it could very well be worth it. If it isn't all that and a little more I wouldn't bother.

Crap Box!

Well,

I saw the car and it's not worth much at all in the condition it's in..... Definitely not "mint"....

No worry's about a trade here.......
