8445 vs 6293 Heads ?

I am curious what is the difference in these heads besides the year. I have been running stock unported 8445 heads, I purhased a pair of 6293 Heads that are ported really nice in and out of ebay about a year ago. They looked the same at the time of inspection. never thought about checking the casting numbers until I got them out of the shop Friday.They look identical in every way that I can see and wanted to know the good or bad? or did I goof and just waste some hard earned money?

Don't worry about the numbers, just use them as they are good heads.:smile:

the differences (to my knowledge) are:

8445's have a bar or rib across the water jacket hole, most 6293's do not.

also some of the 6293's are tapped for sae treads, the 8445's are metric.

other than that, they are supposed to be identical.

Good to know I can use them as these were going to replace my stock one's. I will set them on the shelf. Thanks for the replies!
