I just got a steal on an BQ trans for 50.00, yes a true BQ took pan of and checked valve body. The person i bought it from said that when it was in the car, which he just got by the way, that the trans when put in gear would rev excessively when the accellerator was applied and then bang would violently snatch into gear. I noticed that it has a new pump and convertor (D-5) and there were several metal shavings in the pan. Any possilble ideas on what this could be? Also when I have this thing rebuilt would a Transco hd2 reprograming shift kit work well and what precautions should I take installing it.

Sounds like the TV cable could have been really loose or disconnected. GM designed in a Throttle Valve check ball as a fail safe in case of TV cable failure.

This effectively puts the transmission at full-TV boost at all times if the cable is too loose. The same symptoms can be caused by trash in the valve body sticking the TV valve.

One precaution when installing a Trans-Go kit: DO NOT throw away your stock valve body springs! Label and store them as you may need them.

The Transgo HD2 is not a good kit. It make changes that can not be reversed. TCI, ART Carr or superior are good kits.
