ok im goin to look at a 85 gn this afternon the guy wants 5600 for it,
or trade for my other car
is there anything special i need to look for or at ? i know nothing about these hot air cars .
thanks
dave

The price is most likely too high. If I had $5600 to spend on a GN it would not be on a Hot Air. My 2 cents

If it has upgrades and good body/paint, runs good. THen that price wouldn't be to bad. I'm talking Turbo upgrade, fuel system, exhaust etc.

Now if it's 100% stock, even it was low miles and clean, still a high price tag on a hotair. Take some pictures if possible, post them to let us help more.

ya checked it out have to pass on that one for sure. lots of body and structural work needed underneath super clean though?? interior was ok at best but needing work.
had some mods looked more like a non buick person installed though. oh well back to the search

I don't understand why that is too high for a Hot Air? That's not even alot of money for a clean car (Even though this car wasn't)? I've seen clean NA Regals go for that much, Assuming it was a nice D/D and it was stock you wouldn't pay 5 grand for a Hot Air?...Isn't the KBB value on these cars more than that?
Just wondering is all.

The answer is simple. The market for these cars is driven by people who want to go fast. The design of the IC cars allows this to happen quite easily. Hot Air cars cost alot more to make them go fast and take more time to do so. This is primarily in the custom work needed to do this. This fact is reflected in the price differential of the two cars design. There are alot better cars which are alot more comfortable and economical to use as a daily driver than a Hot Air. These are merely my opinions on the subject. Each to their own opinion. Brad

x2, My car was in decent shape but needed alot of work, after 3k or so I'm not close to getting this thing moving. After a few years of owning this car, i see why they are called money pits. I must say, I love my car tho, HA or not I get compliments all the time. For six grand tho, i would have bought or saved up alittle more to get a IC GN. After working on a Hotair, you can work on anything.. That whole "if you can dodge a wrench.. you can dodge a ball" YouTube - If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball!

I had a 85' Limited, The blue book value was almost 10k on that... I wouldn't see a reason why a National would go for anything less in good condition, my .02 cents

My car was BB at 15k on high( having only 65k on it) end, 8k (bad paint, used) on the low. Even so, I know real world figures are much less then that. If i did a fame up restore, spent 10k just to get everything right i would only profit 5k if i did in fact get a buying at that price tag, with todays buyers...I'm sure i wouldn't see anything over 9k if that.

Then again, I also think a Hotair owner's knowledge of our True Price tag,( which is never ending tag) Makes us always suggest, buy low when it comes to Hotair. So much time and money will be going into it, as we all know, some more then others.

So in a way BB price tag on these hotairs, have no meaning in the real world (of hotair) Atleast IMO

I guess... I only paid 3500$ for my hot-air and it's in almost immaculate shape, minus the tear in the drivers seat 61,500 just turned today bought it with 53,100
