85 Riv T-Type--trans wont disengage at stops

My 85 Riviera TType is getting weird.Just sometimes (only w/warmed up) It wont disengage at stops,eng wants to die,but just as it bout ready to die,trans will disengage and eng will not want to die.When this happends,you can catch it by putting it in neutral,and then put it back in drive with no problems.Wants to do this whether Im in 3rd or 4th,theres no diff. anybody knows whats happening ???? Other than that,trans shifts great w/no slippage,even at wot.

Sounds like lock up isn't disengaging sometimes..

Torque converter lock-up solenoid is stuck..

Not sure how/where to replace it on a FWD car..

Ya,I was leaning that way too,just wanted some input on this cause transmissions are not my specialty !Now the 64k question,what is making it stick ?? Any ideas out there ??? Already changed fluid / filter.

It's a metal rod in a plastic sleeve (very basic description) and sonetimes the shaft binds in there, mostly after it warms up.

I think turbojack has a TH325- 4L Chris
