85 to 87 conversion QUESTION???

i have a 85 gn that i am considering saving. i am planning on pulling a complete 87 engine and tranny and complete engine harness and all sensors and ecm out of the 87 turbo t and putting it in a 85 gn.my question is can i just plug the 85 dash harness into the 87 engine harness and 87 ecm and will the car run?


i know the fuel lines are slightly diffrent and i will address that
85 gn was already converted to vaccum brakes.
i plan on ripping ac out and plating the firewall.

so the only roadblock is the dash harness but i believe the 85 one will work

just make it simple and swap everything from the 87 to the 85. i'm pretty sure the ecm harness is different due to different sensor placement and what not so that would need to be changed. the under dash harness for the cluster and what not might be the same, or they might have moved a few wires for no real unknown reason from model year to model year like they are known to do. same deal with the front light harness- it might be the same, or they might have moved the wiring in the bulkhead plug at the dash.. if they are the same, leave the stock one. if they are different, swap it out.

it only takes a couple of hours to pull a dash out and remove all the wiring from one car and put it in another, so why screw around?
