Did you make the appropriate wiring changes to the harness that plugs into the ignition module? They are not wired the same.

Bryan C. is correct you must rewire or use the Caspers adapter. There are detailed instructions on GNType.org if you wish to do the rewire method.
I converted mine and with the adapter it was the easiest mod I ever did on the car.

i used the adapter and a 87 coil all new stuff pluged it all in and car wouldn't start. Put allthe old stuff back on and it fired up .note used same coil on both moduales

Listen to Bryan C. I persosnally met him and he does know what he is talking about. He test drove my 85 GN and diagnosed my problem right away. His 85 GN has the 87 Gn computer along with the laptop computer connection. He knows what he is talking about. Thanks- Brad

OK lets dig in further. What do you mean by all new stuff? If I understand what you are doing there should only be a new module and the adapter swapped in... right? The coil is a non issue either one will work if the module is wired in correctly. Another possibility is the adapter has a wiring fault. Check the contacts on both the male and female sides.
Don't give up it will work.

thought maybe moduale was bad so i exchanged it for another new one . it still wouldn't run. I'm going to test the harness adapter for continewty

Double and triple check the wiring connections, pinouts, and colors. You may have a wire in the wrong location on the connector. Do not ask how I know.

you have the correct coilpack for an 87?they are differnt from 84-85 models..
