I've already read the article on gnttype.org I just wanted to make something clear. If I just want to swap the ecm, for now, then all I need would be the right ECM, a MAT sensor and wiring, and to move those two wires to the specified pins and the car should run right?

Just about to do mine, i think you need the correct cal pak also. I forgot what the number is i think the last digits are 503 and 504.

In most cases (at least every one I've ever done) the hot air calpack is the correct one and works just fine.

In my experience, the MAF swap is mandatory, but others have used the hot air maf without problems. Each car seems to be different.

you need a chip burned for an 87 computer.......

what junkyard cars will the mass air be on, do you need a chip burned even if the car is stock, gnttype.org i dont think said anything about that. let me know because i did not plan on a chip until i upgraded the turbo and inj.

maf.. nothing

you want a maf? buy a translator and someone's stock LS1 maf. every maf you could find at a JY is going to be too small.

you have to have a chip for the 87 computer before you can upgrade... if you get a good chip burnerl... $50 for a chip.. and once you get the turbo/inj's he will re-burn you a chip for like $25

try to get ahold of jay carter, he is a GOOD GUY and a freakin awesome chip burner.,.. he will do you right

would it hurt anything if i was to wire up the mat sensor all the way to the 85 ecm and plug it in and buy an 87 chip later and install the 87 ecm then. do i need a new maf and translater if i am not maxing out the stock maf besides the ability to adjust timing with the translater. sorry to jump on your thread if this info doesnt help you let me know i will start my own thread.

The connections (I think C11 and D12) are not used ion the 85 ECM, so ...... No, it will not hurt or do anything if the MAT installed on the 85 ECM.
