I have an extra 86/87 hood pad that I would like to put on my 84. My 84 one is shot. It will fit on but will it be a danger or cause a probelm because it is not "cut" in the area for the turbo?

i run and 86-87 one on my car. i got one of the buickgn.com heat sheilds so its good to go.

How does that new heat sheild attach to the hood? The reason i ask is mine didn't have one when i bought it and the padding is starting to rip

if you look at the hood in the back there will be to small dents where you put screws threw.

Boost231 When you did this on your car did you have to cut away the section on the 86/87 hoodliner where the shield was going to get it to mount more flush up against the hood? The reason I ask is because I remember hearing a while back about some people putting the shields on the 86/87 liners and then having the wastegate rod rub on the shield. The people talked about triming the liner, and possibly bending the shield upward a bit more, but I never heard what ended up working for them.

im not really sure if it will hit with a 84-85 turbo and wastegate. since im running an 87 turbo with an 87 wastegate mine is alittle different. on that note my wastegate does hit the shield. the rod doesnt hit but the diaphram where its pressed togther in the middle hits. i dont mind and it pushes the shield and hoodliner up more keeping it futher away from the heat of the turbo.
