is anyone aware of original 87 gn's being two tone. example top portion black with silver or chrome/mirror bottom portion.

no that was the before turbo grandnational with the v8.
If you ask me the color sceme is sweet

No GNs with a v8.

It could have been an 82 GN or a Designer Series turbo buick.

the 84-87 GN was all black. 82 had a two tone charcoal/silver, the 84-86 WH1 or "designer series" was black/charcoal.

No there wasn't.

They were all V6's. Approx 15 or so were turbocharged the rest had carbs on them.

In 1982 there was a v8 in the grand national.

Hang on my bad, I think you might be right, but i swear Ive seen a book that had a grand national with a 350 in it? Maybe it was two different cars I seen and mixed em up.

nobody knows the exact numbers, but less than 30 had the turbo v6, rumoured that another small handful had the 5.0 chebby, but there are none documented.

Ill tell u what though, the paint sceme on the 82 is sweet.

I remember seeing one in front of the showroom at the local Buick dealer spring of 82 and thinking even at 16 yrs old I had to have one. Wish finally came true last summer, just needs a LOT of work.

hell ya man good for you! :) I know howit is when u first see that car and just gotta have it. I was 14 or 15 when i saw my first gn up close, after that I had to have one. Funny thing, before I bought my first T, i didnt really know much about them at all. The landskeeper for my appartments had one, and he kept it parked behind our appt. a few hunder feet. i always was looking at it like, that looks like a gn but its red, hhhmmmm. Guess what after a year it was mine! Too bad it was stoled though :( Im sure some gheto punk saw 50" rims on that :D

The first Grand National(1982) was built by Cars and Concepts in Brighton, Mich., for Buick. Listed for $15,490.00, had a 4.1 liter(N/A) V6, 3.23 axle, GT suspension, and about 215 were made. Buick won the NASCAR Grand National championship in 1981, so they built these to commemorate that event. The first one introduced(Daytona 500, 1982) was Black over silver, and had t-tops. There were 'Sport Regals' that had turbo'd V6s before those, but the turbo'd engines didn't filter into the GNs 'til '82. Nothing in the Buick history books about V8s in any of the GNs. I had an '87 T-Type that was factory with a 5.0(bought it for some of the black out trim, stock alum. wheels, and to use as a guinea pig for my homemade dash).

Rodman i was thinking about it, and it was a T-type I saw, not a gn, my bad. Thought aout it today at work, you knw where my mind is ;)
