87 pwr seat track retrofit

Does anyone know if you can put the 87 style power seat transmission assy into the older style tracks? I was runnin the jy today testing seat tracks with a drill battery and all the old ones would work till the first time they bottomed out and then the plastic coupler on the motor would shatter (which is what happened to my 84). So I grabbed an 87 style out of a split bench 87 cutlass BUT the window has been down for, oh 15 years or so and the metal feet are damn near rusted clean off. I coulda removed the seat with a pry bar lol. I thought id ask what I'm in for making one out of 2 before I tear into it. I bought it knowing someone would need an 87 transmission assy if it didn't work in my 84.

Well I'll be damned, a little searching here after the fact and it looks like I can replace that coupling separate on the original track. Maybe I will convert my 87 GN to power seat now since I have started collecting parts already...
