I bought a '87 T-type from a guy that says it sat for 4+ years. I have changed the plugs, O2 sensor, fuel filter, fuel pump, and exhaust manifold gaskets and most of the soft vacuum lines. I started it up and ran seafoam through it, it's idling pretty good but when I drive it and give it throttle it falls on it's face real bad. Misses and won't build any boost at all barely get over 25MPH.

Are there any other things I should change/check? Any ideas I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

All stock set of right now. I just want to get it running right before I pull the motor.

Sure sounds like a bad maf.

Is there any way to test it or should I just buy one?

If I buy one should i buy a stock replacement of go ahead and get a LS1 Maf and translator?
I'm going to do a bigger turbo and injectors downpipe..etc

The only reliable way to test it is to replace it with a known good one. And no, the over the counter replacements aren't a good choice. Vast majority are mis calibrated.

If you're going to be doing those upgrades in the near future, then the LS1 Maf and translator would be a good choice.

Where in Illinois are you located? There quite a few TB's over there. I have a good maf if you are close the east central side of the state. This is just to test not to keep though.

Groumoutis I really appreciate it but I'm in southern IL. It would be great to borrow one just to test but I'm sure I'm too far away.

I'm in Champaign if that helps, and Eric from Turbo Tweek is in Salem.

Rick, I'm actually in Marion so I'm still 3 hours south of you. I think I'm going to spend the $50 and buy a reman and see if it runs better at all. I just don't want to spend $300 on an LS1 MAF and translator to get the car running decent for one day before I start tearing it apart.

I appreciate the help though.

Ok, but even if you get it running good, you should ditch the reman MAF. So if you plan on getting a translator, now would be a good time. Let us know how it turns out.

Well I installed the reman MAF and it mad the car run even worse and it would die instead of idle. I'll let everyone know if the LS1 MAF and translator helps!

Do you have a scanmaster on it to watch the data?

If you plan on doing anything to the car, that is another investment to make soon. You will need one for the future and it can help you monitor much of your data. Especially like the TPS, which could give you similar problems !

i had a similar problem from a bad/misadjusted cam sensor....start the car, unplug it and see if it runs better.

Reman MAF's are hit and miss. It's hard to get one that will actually work.

There is a vendor developing new stock style replacement maf. Hopefully he can bring them to market soon. ;)

Let us know what happens when you get translator and ls1 maf on.
