car has been sitiing for about 5 months any help before i start tryin to drive it. was my fathers he has passed on and i want to be careful with his baby. any suggestions would be great.

If it ran fine 5 months ago, at the bare minimum I would change the oil, drain the old gas out and put in a new fuel filter.
