What should be on the ID tag on a 89 TTA transmission and
what color is the tag?

Any differences internally versus the TR BRFs ?

Any differences externally (case, etc.) ?

Should be TAF.The speedo gear is different.HTH

So, there is no external indicator anywhere saying "BRF", as on TR trans?

I will repeat what BEATBY6 stated; all TTA transmissions are a TAF code. As such, if there is any other markings on the case such as a paper sticker on the bellhousing, it too will have the TAF calibration tag.
